Upgrading insulation to existing homes questions...
- Is your home over 40 Years Old?
- Is it difficult for your air conditioner to "keep up" on a 85 degree day?
- Can you see the tops of your ceiling joists inside the attic?
- Do you have white or pink builders grade fiberglass in your attic?
- Does your roof completely frost over in the winter?
If you answered "YES" to any of these questions, you probably need more insulation!
Insulation
If your home is poorly insulated, it dramatically increases the amount of energy you need for heating and cooling. Energy loss happens through conduction (i.e. heat passing through walls, windows, doors, etc.) and infiltration (air leaking through cracks and gaps). Improving the efficiency of the building envelop can be one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to cut energy costs. For a relatively small investment, it is quite possible to increase the comfort of your home while reducing your heating and cooling needs by up to 30%.
Tripolymer® Insulation Advantages
If you have an existing structure with fiberglass insulation in your walls we now have the solution. This is the only option besides a complete demolition of your wall structure to correct the problem of having fiberglass in your walls. Tripolymer® wall foam is that option. This revolutionary product completely encapsulates the fiberglass insulation within your wall cavity. Unlike fiberglass, Tripolymer wall foam seals all of the cracks and air pathways that rob you of the conditioned air you pay for. And it does not settle, cause bridging, or deteriorate over time like fiberglass does. In addition to reducing the air leakage, you will raise your R-Value from about a R5 to roughly a R18. Tripolymer® wall foam will create drastic results in your home which will be noticed immediately. Comfort, Health, Sound and Energy Savings! This product will pay for itself while your enjoying its benefits.
Installed in a standard 2" X 4" wood frame wall, and covered with a single layer of 1/2" gypsum board, Tripolymer will provide an 'R' value of 17.7 and an STC rating of 53. In redundant testing, a standard interior wall constructed of 2" X 4" wood studs and covered with a single layer of 1/2" gypsum board normally fire-rated at 1/2 hour, and was increased to 1 and 1/2 hours with the installation of Tripolymer.
